Endorsements are one of the biggest games in politics, yet the voters never seem to catch on.

In a nutshell, most of the organizations that endorse candidates—here in Western Washington, at least—are corrupt. Thus, intelligent people should NOT vote for people endorsed by the the Washington Education Association, Teamsters, Alki Foundation, King County Municipal League or even the League of Women Voters.
The League of Women Voters? What could be more wholesome than the LWV?
Well, if you’re new to politics, you need to do your homework. I've been politically active since about 1995, and I can’t name a single local political organization that I trust. Yes, I’ve even had some strange experiences with the League of Women Voters. Having belonged to the Seattle/Washington Education Association and the Teamsters, I can state with authority that they’re nothing more than parasites who excel only at selling their members out.
I don’t even trust the churches here in corporate Seattle. Fortunately, churches aren’t major players in the endorsement game.
Media Whores
So let’s talk about the media. We’ve all heard the term media whore. We all know the media helped get us into Iraq and Afghanistan; the Seattle Times even endorsed owner Frank Blethen’s hero, George W. Bush.
And I’m not just talking about right-wing media. The liberal Seattle Weekly and The Sranger are pathetic. Yet candidates eagerly line up for media endorsement interviews during each election campaign. So what do you call a candidate who kneels at the feet of media whores?
I learned my lesson during Campaign 1999 and have never attended a media endorsement interview since. In fact, I’ve pretty much sworn off endorsements entirely.
Reamsters
I did accept an invitation to meet with the Teamsters, largely out of curiosity. They had never contacted me during my previous campaigns, but last year (2007) they apparently felt obliged to talk to me since I had become a new member. Based on that meeting, my experiences at work and some research I’ve done, I’ve concluded the Reamsters are a bunch of jackals who are in bed with George Bush. (And they DO excel at protecting lazy workers.)
In the meantime, the Teamsters continue selling out their dues-paying members. For example, UPS positions that paid $14-$15 an hour over a decade ago now pay a lousy $8.50. Thanks to a new contract the Teamsters helped ram down their members’s throats, the starting salary will remain frozen at $8.50 into the year 2013. (If you live in Seattle, can you imagine trying to survive on a half-time job that pays $8.50 an hour today, let alone five years from now?) As if that isn’t absurd enough, employees will get no health benefits for their first year of employment. I guess that’s the Teamsters’ way of saying FUCK YOU.
For whatever it’s worth, I’ve even found evidence that suggests the Teamsters are trying to help George W. Bush destabilize Iran. But more about that later, when I get a more complete report on the Reamsters online.
Latin Freedom Fighters
But there is one endorsement I’m actively soliciting—that of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. In fact, I would eagerly accept an endorsement from any of Latin America’s new “leftist” leaders.
So what do the Chavistas know about education in Washington State? Probably no more than Bill Gates or the Seattle Chamber of Commerce. But I think they can understand me when I talk about corporations taking over schools. In fact, we have the same enemies: Corporate America, George Bush, Inc. or whatever you want to call it.
Of course, I don’t really expect to get Chávez’ endorsement, but it would be an extraordinary honor, and merely seeking it is an interesting political experiment of sorts. At any rate, you can read more about my quest at Viva Chávez!: Campaign 2008.
In the meantime, I’ll likely once again be the only candidate with no corrupt endorsements. And if you’re stupid enough to vote for a candidate endorsed by the WEA, Teamsters, King County Municipal League or Seattle Times, then you deserve to get shit on.
Breaking: Latin America News Review endorsed my campaign on May 20, 2008. This was totally unexpected, as I haven’t been soliciting endorsements.
I have been prowling the Internet, posting on blogs and forums, hoping to publicize my campaign and network with potential supporters. This endorsement is actually very strategic, as it might encourage similar groups to support me. And if enough pro-Chávez groups endorse me, then maybe I can get the attention of Chávez himself.
I desperately want to tap into that Chavismo as an antidote to the apathy that characterizes Seattle in particular.
E pluribus unum,
